If My People Pray by Rebecca Stewart

If My People Pray by Rebecca Stewart

Many of you, like myself, are watching our state stats as each day new counties have a diagnosis of coronavirus and more people are dying from it.  Some watch out of fear but some watch out of concern for how close it is getting to the ones they love.

As I watched more and more blue creep across a map of Illinois as an increasing number of counties reported diagnoses of coronavirus, I realized that our state, nation and world is in deep need of healing. Physical healing, yes, but even more we need spiritual healing.  We have turned our hearts away and have become complacent in our surrender and obedience to the Lord in our day to day living. The Coronavirus is a physical visual of the spiritual condition of our land.

As God’s people we are being called to wake up and do what Jesus commissioned us to do before He left.  Our call as a Child of God has always been to: make disciples of all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Coronavirus is the physical reminder that we need to get back to Jesus’ commission.  All around us every day, new cases are diagnosed and more people are dying. Many are entering a Christ-less eternity. This virus is no respecter of people. It can strike anyone at any time.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says:

If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land

We as Children of God are currently being called to do these 4 things:

  1. Humble ourselves
  2. Pray
  3. Seek the Lord
  4. Turn from our wicked ways

The Lord promises 3 things to His children who do these 4 things for their nation:

  1. He will hear from heaven
  2. He will forgive our sin
  3. He will heal our land

May this time we are currently living draw us closer to our Savior and back to His calling.
