The Rebellion of Korah

The Rebellion of Korah

October 10, 2021

    Numbers 16

Vs 1 Korah was the great grandson of Levi, grandson of Kohath. Levites were ministers, and Kohathites were responsible for the most holy of objects. But Korah coveted Aaron’s line of priesthood. 1 Cor 12:14-26 teaches us the value of every person in the body of Christ.

Vs 3 & 7 “You have gone far enough” Who is right? Korah or Moses? In some controversies only time will sort out who is right and who is wrong. Perseverance is the key to our hope in Christ 1 Thess 1:3

Vs 3 “Everyone is holy” Heb 3:7-11

Vs 3-4 “Why exalt yourself”? Num 12:3 The very first response of Moses, like Nehemiah, was prayer. A prayer life and humility go hand in hand. Matt 23:12

Vs 5 “Whom He chooses He will bring near” Rom 8:29-31

However, let guilt be washed away grace 2 Cor 7:10

Vs 9 Separated and drawn near to God 1 Cor 6:11 James 4:7

Vs 12-14 “Land Flowing with Milk and Honey”

Really? In Egypt they had: Servitude, infanticide, hard labor, deep racism, onions, garlics, leeks

In Verse 14 Korah and the other Levites are regretting the call to ministry.

Canaan was the land of promise and Egypt was the land of broken promises.

Matt 13:20-21 When difficult times come many seek to comfort the flesh instead of trust in God.

Many Christians will take comfort during stressful times in indulgences of the flesh.
God offers strength, hope, endurance and victory!

Your sin is no comfort and it separates you from God and the hope of eternity. Christ and His saving work on the cross is our hope!
